Harmonize data using collaborative transplant CTS studies

Caner Süsal studied medicine in Heidelberg, Germany. Since 1987 he has been working at the Institute of Immunology, University of Heidelberg, where he is currently supervising the Antibody Laboratory, a research lab, and the scientific Collaborative Transplant Study (CTS) in which more than 400 transplant centers from 42 countries are participating voluntarily. CTS contains data sets to some 750,000 kidney, heart, lung, liver, and pancreas transplants. This wealth of data provides invaluable insights into transplantation-related problems and developments. He has authored more than 200 publications and received multiple awards for my research. Prof. Süsal became an nKOL (new key opinion leader) of The Transplantation Society in 2009. He is Associate Editor of the journal Transplantation, Past-President of the German Society for Immunogenetics (DGI), and currently a member of the Eurotransplant Council of Medicine and Science, the Organ Transplantation Committee of the German Society for Immunogenetics, and the Immunology Committee of the German Transplantation Society.

Allan B. Massie, PhD, is an epidemiologist and assistant professor in the School of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. His background in computer science is augmented by his research into genetic determinants of chronic kidney disease, big data in organ transplantation (including registries and administrative databases), and developing risk-predication models. Dr. Massie studies the long-term outcomes of living kidney donors.
